Oz Transport minister booked for speeding

MELBOURNE - Northern Territory Transport minister Gerry McCarthy has been slapped with a 200-dollar on-the-spot fine for speeding.
McCarthy, who is also the Planning minister, was fined for driving at a speed of 149km/hr on the speed limited Stuart highway between Tennant Creek and Alice Springs.he Transport minister was held when he was driving his Land Cruiser in excess of the allowed limit of 130 km/hr. Mr Mc Carthy also got three licence demerit points.
McCarthy was heading for Alice for a meeting with people affected by the collapse of Carey Builders.
“What happened yesterday should serve as a reminder to all motorists to be vigilant at all times and watch their speed carefully,” the Daily Telegraph quoted McCarthy as saying. (ANI)
