Twin brother identifies body of Polish President Kaczynski

SMOLENSK - Former Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski has identified the body of Polish President, and his twin brother, Lech Kaczynski after Saturday’s plane crash in Russia.

“Jaroslaw Kaczynski identified the bodies of President Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria,” The Times quoted Max Kraczkowski, a Russian official, as saying.

Lech’s body will be transported directly to Warsaw.

The bodies of all others killed in the plane crash were sent to Moscow for identification, but an exception was made for the President’s body.

Lech and his wife Maria were killed when a plane carrying 97 passengers from Warsaw crashed while approaching Smolensk airport.

The President and some 88 of the dead were members of a Polish state delegation, who were scheduled to attend commemorative ceremonies in Katyn, where 22,000 Poles were killed by Soviet troops 70 years ago. (ANI)
