PATNA, India (GaeaTimes.com) - Railways Authority have gone ahead to issue suspension orders for nine RPSF (Railway Protection Special Force) officers owing to the ongoing investigation for the shooting incident witnessed in the Danapur-Howrah Express in its AC-3 bogey when one passenger was severely injured.

The passenger who was injured in the incident happens to be a Calcutta resident by the name of P K Mukherjee. The railways reports that the real intention of the criminals were to loot the train bogey which is evident by how they boarded off the train at Sahari Halt after the passengers got frightened with the firing of bullets. Danapur Railways in due course of the incident told the media that this particular track has been a major target for all looters for the past 6 months. Although the Railways have taken quite a few precautionary measures, incidents like this keeps on happening and there is no strong rod to stem the rot. ECR security personnels told media that in spite of the fact that there is a scope for amendment under the RPF Act, the railways have been quite reluctant to contemplate the situation which is now an alarming issue.

The Railways have reported that the nine suspended RPSF officials include a SI along with eight constables. In the wake of the shooting incident which has triggered the fear alarm among all long distance travelers, the railway officials have said that they will ensure that all passengers are assured fullest safety and shall have no hassle or hindrance during their journey. Reportedly, the railways have witnessed 20 similar incidents in due course of 15 months which does bring a bad name to the already shaky reputation of the Indian Railways.
