Bihar can play vital role in nation’s progress: Nitish

NEW DELHI - Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said that his State would play a vital role in the progress of the nation.

He said this while interacting with the members of the Indian Women’s Press Corps in the national capital on Saturday (April 10).

“We are working in Bihar and Bihar has its own specific problems. Bihar is far behind in many areas, we also want to get a bit Bihar-centric to bring those issues forward but this does not mean we aren’t aware of the national issues. But we will have to take Bihar to that level where they can contribute to the national growth,” said Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar.

Speaking on the issue of the resignation tendered by the Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Nitish Kumar said: “I respect Chidambaram a lot, but I will suggest to him to be careful towards his tone and tenure. There is no need of talking too much. Everybody knows that even if he offers his resignation, the PM wont accept it, everybody knows it. There is no need of talking too much about it as the people are working on it at the ground level.”

As for the Women’s Reservation Bill, Nitish Kumar said soon this would be passed in Lok Sabha as well.

“Our members have voted in the favour of Women’s Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha, and we don’t know by what time it will be passed in Lok Sabha. This decision is in the hands of the overnment of the ruling party, but we expect that as it has been passed in Rajya Sabha they will definitely bring it in the Lok Sabha,” noted Nitish Kumar

He further disclosed that he has no issues with Sharad Pawar, Union Agriculture Minister and the only point on which they disagree is the approach towards the Women’s Reservation Bill. ANI)
