KUALA LUMPUR - The youth wing of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), MIC Youth, has denied reports of a rift in the party and expressed support for president S. Samy Vellu’s choice of candidate for the Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election.
Youth chief T. Mohan said they were all united and strongly backed G. Palanivel, a four-term MP who had been working in the constituency since 1990.
Mohan hit out at certain websites and blogs for alleging that there was friction within the party over the choice of candidate for the by-election.
“It is very mischievous of them to make such accusations and project the MIC as a disunited party to confuse the electorate, the Star quoted Mohan, as saying.
Mohan said as far as he knew, the party was happy with Dr Subramaniam’s performance and saw no reason why he should not be allowed to continue. (ANI)
