ALLAHABAD - Days after the deadly Maoists attack that killed 76 CRPF personnel in Chhattisgarh, security has been beefed up in Allahabad.
The trains that are coming into Uttar Pradesh from Maoist-infested states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand are being checked thoroughly.
Exclusive Quick Response Teams (QRT) have been formed by the Railway Protection Force to tackle any untoward situation.
“After the incident in which the CRPF were killed by the Maoists in Chattisgarh-Dantewada area, the trains which are coming in from these areas are being collectively checked by the RPF and GRP. A close watch is being kept on the suspected people. A new QRT team has been formed for special inquiry. The dog squad here is frisking all the luggage and belongings of the people,” said B N Dwivedi, Inspector, Railway Protection Force, Allahabad.
He further said that special security checks are being conducted at the entrance gate of the station and metal detectors are being used to check the luggage of the passengers.
The ambush by more than 700 Maoist ultras in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday has highlighted their strong presence across large swathes of India, especially the remote rural areas. (ANI)
