Food Corporation of India at Jaipur has liquor stored

JAIPUR - Scores of cartons containing liquor bottles were found in the warehouses meant to store wheat of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) here on Tuesday.

A huge quantity of wheat kept in gunny bags actually meant for public distribution system has been rotting outside the godowns since the warehousing facility has been rented out to private liquor wholesale dealers.

Vasudev Devnani, a lawmaker of Rajasthan belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who got to know about this misuse rushed to the spot along with the media and exposed the racket.

Attacking the ruling Congress Party, he said that the Congress Party is neither farmer nor commoner friendly. The evidence being the wheat left in the open to rot and turning a blind eye to the entire episode.

“Inflation is on the rise in Rajasthan. People are unable to get food to eat and in a situation like this, wheat is found on the roads while liquor is stored in the godowns, essentially meant for the protection of wheat, Indeed, it is a shame on the part of the government for having let such a situation take place,” said Devnani.

Meanwhile, Nathulal, a porter confirmed that the warehousing shed has been rented out for the past three years.

“I work in this ‘liquor godown’. This godown has been leased out for the past three years. The wheat kept outside on the roads will definitely rot if kept for a long time,” admitted Nathulal. (ANI)
