CBI files charge sheet against Chautala in disproportionate assets case

NEW DELHI - The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed a charge sheet against former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala in connection with a disproportionate assets case.

The charge sheet was filed in the court of a Special Judge for CBI cases, Karkardooma.

Chautala has been charged for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs.60979026/- i.e. 189 percent of his income of Rs.32243660/- during the period 1993 to 2006.

He was found in possession of immovable and movable assets worth Rs.74393484/- in addition to the expenditure of Rs.19139213/- during the said period, the CBI claimed in its charge sheet.

Chautala and his family members are said to have amassed huge immovable and movable assets when he was Harayana’s chief minister.

CBI teams conducted searches at 24 places and recovered several incriminating documents.

Earlier, the CBI had filed charge sheets against Chautala’s sons - Abhay and Ajay. The court has taken cognizance of both charge sheets. (ANI)
