Earth Hour India Creates Sensation

NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Earth Hour is an initiative that is taken by the countries that seek to save and conserve energy for the Earth and India is going to join this bandwagon soon. The residents of Delhi are quite keen to participate in the Earth Hour. On Saturday, they will switch off the lights at 8.30 p.m to support this international global climate awareness effort. This is actually a brainchild of the World Wide Fund for Nature that seeks to make people more knowledgeable about energy saving methods and its importance in life. Apart from India, 921 other nations will participate in this effort.
It has been decided that the government entities, ITC hotels and private banks will take part in the earth hour in India. The initiative has got good response from corporate entities as well. It has got warm feedback from the Confederation of Indian Industry. The citizens in Delhi also want to join this initiative and some are planning to hold candle light parties to celebrate the occasion. Sheila Dikshit, the Chief minister of Delhi has also said that the residents of the capital should join the effort to save power whole heartedly.
As a matter of fact, Delhi was involved in Earth Hour 2009. Last year the capital residents were able to save around750 MW power by joining the initiative. Abhishek Bachchan, noted Bollywood actor is the brand ambassador for this effort and he has also asked his fans to join the effort. He has said that such efforts will go a long way in keeping the environment safer and pollution free.
