Economic growth, political pluralism can diminish terrorism: Tharoor

New Delhi, Mar 26(ANI): Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor on Friday said that economic growth and political pluralism could diminish terrorism.
Addressing a seminar held to debate ‘India’s Role in a Multi-Polar World’ in the national capital, Tharoor also stressed that terrorism is the biggest challenge of today’s times.
“Terrorism, proliferation and conflict will remain key concerns even as the source issues move out from the international agenda. Terrorism is a tragic blight of our times but its appeal might diminish if the economic opportunities … increase and greater political pluralism is offered in many societies,” Tharoor said.
“But in saying this, I am conscious that India’s story could be seriously affected by the failure of other countries in our neighbourhood to do either,” he added.
The two-day seminar is being organized by Alfred Herrhausen Society (International Forum for Deutsche Bank), Policy Network, London, and the Indian Council for World Affairs (ICWA). (ANI)
