Bursting of water pipeline leads to flood-like situation in Mulund area of Mumbai

MUMBAI - A water pipeline that burst in Mumbai’s suburban neighbourhood of Mulund on Thursday led to flood-like situation, as it created traffic snarls and caused problem for the general public here.
The bursting of the 72-inch further caused water shortage across the city.
Meanwhile, local residents in Mulund were seen using ropes to cross the road while the vehicles were stranded due to traffic jam.
“This happened around 12 to 12.30 in the afternoon. Everything is closed and no rickshaw is plying. The water has entered Shivaji Nagar…. The water is up to our knees,” said Shekar, a local resident.
On March 15, there was a similar water pipeline burst at the textile town of Bhiwandi in Thane district and this pipeline was said to be over a century old.
Later, on February 12, an underground tunnel burst in Malad area due to illegal digging of a bore well. (ANI)
