BHUBANESWAR - The pre-summer heat in Orissa has already begun to affect normal lives, with weather department issuing heat wave advisory in the area for the next 24 hours.

Eleven towns in the state have recorded temperature at more than 40 degree centigrade.

“Cuttack recoded 40.1 degree Celsius. We have hot day conditions over coastal Orissa because of climatic conditions. We have issued heat wave warnings for the next 24 hours for Orissa state,” S. C. Sahu, Director, India Metrological Department.

The metrological department has blamed northeast winds and clear sky for the adverse conditions.

People were seen drinking cold drinks and ‘lassi’ to beat the heat.

“Students face lot of problem. There is no place for them to sit and take rest. We drink ‘lassi’ to rejuvenate ourselves,” said Satya Prakash, a student.

The months of May-June are usually the hottest in the country with the temperature going way beyond the 40-45 degrees Celsius mark in many states. (ANI)
