Chennai beauty salon makes world record bid for longest hair braid

CHENNAI - A beauty salon in Chennai has attempted to enter the Guinness Book of World Records on Thursday by braiding hair that are more than 100 feet long.
Vasugi, the owner of the Friends Beauty Care salon, with the help of four other beauticians, braided the hair in about four hours.
Measuring almost 108 feet, the plait was embellished with natural and artificial flowers, zardozi work, fruits, almonds, pistachio, and even dollars.
“I am modelling for the Guinness Book of Records for the first time. It is a 108-feet-long plait. It is embellished with all kinds of different flowers and embroidery work. This is for the first time something like this is happening in Chennai and I am happy to be part of it,” said Jharna, who modelled for the record attempt.
This braid weighed 300 kilograms and the total cost of the whole process came to about 150,000 rupees.
The beauty centre owner has also entered the Limca Book of Records for making another plait earlier. (ANI)
