US provides fleet of Cobra helicopters to Pak

LAHORE - The Pakistan Army has received a fleet of advance AH-1 Cobra combat helicopters from the United States.
According to a private television channel, the squadron consists of 14 to 16 helicopters, which are likely to be used in military offensive against extremists in the Orakzai Agency.
The sophisticated Cobra choppers can fly at an altitude of 11,400 feet and can be used effectively for night-time operations.
Each Cobra helicopter is equipped with two 7.62 mm multi-barrel guns, two 40 mm guns and grenade launchers, while 70 mm rockets can be attached to it.
Besides the latest helicopter fleet, the US is also providing 75 million dollars to Pakistan to upgrade the helicopters currently being used by the Pakistan Armed Forces, The Daily Times reports. (ANI)
