Well known corporate leaders like Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani and many others have taken note of the huge potential of the region.

Business tycoon Ratan Tate laid the foundation stone for the first five star hotel ‘Vivanta Taj’ in Guwahati. The 150-room luxury resort with an investment of Rs 95 crore will be built in 4.5 acres.

“We are here because we are drawn to the opportunities and potential of the state which are by and large not received proper attention because of various reasons like law and order or proper infrastructure. We have a new Assam here and most of all are drawn by the challenges and opportunities here,” said Ratan Tata, Chairman Tata Group.

Earlier the first Assam Investment Advisory Board meeting was held, to attract investment to the region.

Top business leaders like Ratan Tata, Mukesh Ambani and others attended the meet.

The business houses are looking at investment opportunities in the region.

Both state and centre governments have welcomed the initiative and extended their full support.

Top business man of the country have come all the way and have shown interest for the development which we have been requesting them and every body has responded in a kind way and today we have a galaxy of them.

Northeast has for long has been affected by militant activities which have affected the growth and development of the region.

But with the changing situation, the potential of sectors like tourism, agriculture, gas, IT and infrastructure has been realized.
