Employment fair in Srinagar

SRINAGAR - A five-day mega employment fair kick-starts here, with an aim to create awareness among educated unemployed youth about self-employment schemes offered by various government departments and agencies, and to motivate them to take up entrepreneurship.

The fair was organized by the District Employment and Counseling Centre and had 34 stalls in all.

Several government departments, banks and financial service providers had set up their stalls in this fair.

The department provides information to the people about schemes through brochures, booklets and leaflets. Once a person registers, the department will help them to get loan to start with.

Mohd Jamaal, in-charge, District Employment and Counseling Centre, Government of Kashmir, said that the fair provided information to the youths looking for employment opportunities.

“Various departments have announced loan schemes. They give information on various loans available to the people and tell people how can you adopt income generating schemes here so that you can give employment to others also.” said Jamaal.

Farhat Abass, an unemployed youth said that he got the information needed for which he had come here.

“We want information on employment. We saw a number of stalls and we have got a lot of information. I got information on fisheries for which I had come here.” said Abass. (ANI)
