107 industries applied for CISF security cover

NEW DELHI - One hundred and seven industries have applied for Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) security cover for their respective installations.

Revealing this at a press conference, CISF Director General N R Das said the security would be given only after studying threat perception of that particular installation.

” We will study threat perception of that particular installation which applied for security cover and security would be given as per the priority sector. As of now the Centre has notified Information Technology, Power and Oil industries as priority sector,” Das said.

Out of 107 industries, which have applied to get CISF security, 33 are from priority sector.

He also informed that the CISF has earned Rs 2,600 crore revenue by providing security to different industries.

In the post 26/11 Mumbai terror strike many industries in hospitality, education, petroleum and transport have applied to get the CISF security cover.

As the need of the CISF security cover is increasing the force has launched a massive recruiting drive in which 10,00 personnel were recruited in 2009, and another 16, 0000 personnel would be recruited in 2010.

Commenting on CISF’s role in providing security to upcoming Commonwealth Games Das said, ” The Delhi Police are inchrge of Commonwealth Games security arrangements. The CISF will co-operate with them (Delhi Police).

The CISF is providing 40, 000 personnel along with 3,000 specially trained commandos for the Commonwealth Games security. By Shreeraj Gudi(ANI)
