MUMBAI - Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee took everyone by surprise when he showcased his bohemian collection at the ongoing Lakme India Fashion Week (LIFW).
Mukherjee, who is known more for his contemporary collection, broke all rules on Friday and showcased some transparent collection.
Drawing inspiration from the 70s rockstar look, his collection comprised long skirts, floor-touching dresses, elongated t-shirts and loose pants.
Giving the models a gypsy look, the models sashayed down the ramp wearing bandanas, red sunglasses, chunky jewellery, platform sandals.
Calling the experience a “mid-life crisis”, Sabyasachi said that he always wanted to do something like this.
“Well I think it comes from a mid-life crisis. When you realise that you have not done a lot of things that you should. So it was a kind of explosion of things that I wanted to do,” said Mukherjee.ondly calling Sabyasachi as Sabya, actor Vidya Balan said that she would not have missed the show for the world.
“Sabya (Sabyasachi Mukherjee) does not have a show-stopper normally. But I did not want to miss this show for the world. I am so glad I actually made it because I was shooting in Delhi, but I am glad I made it here and I might sound a little cocky when I say this, but I just knew that it would be a fabulous show. But I think he is raising the bar every time. I do not think any one understands boho like Sabya does,” said Vidya.
Lakme India Fashion Week (LIFW), organised twice annually, is being held from March 5-9 and will involve events like media seminars, business-to-business meetings and a buyers’ forum, apart from the regular fashion shows.
The event will also provide a platform for fresh designers who possess the talent through the Gen Next shows.
Around 64 designers would showcase their collections in this season. (ANI)
