Delhi Gov to support women explore new opportunities

NEW DELHI - Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has assured women that her government will support all the new opportunities explored by women.
On Friday, interacting with the media on the sidelines of a programme organized ahead of International women’s Day, Dikshit said: “My message on the Women’s Day is that display your strength and ability, explore new opportunities and we will help you with them.”
International Women’s day is being celebrated on Monday (March 8).
Dikshit, who turns 72 this month, also danced along with scores of women when she was invited on the stage to perform a jig by popular folk singer Ila Arun.
Delhi’s Health Minister Kiran Walia also participated in the event.
Women across India are eagerly awaiting Monday the day when the Rajya Sabha, takes up the long-pending Women’s Reservation Bill for discussion.
The Rajya Sabha Business Advisory Committee has slated the bill for discussion on Monday, coinciding with the International Women’s Day.
On February 25, the Indian cabinet had approved the Women’s Reservation Bill, which provides for 33 percent of reservation for women in elected bodies. (ANI)
