NABARANGPUR - Orissa Police on Thursday arrested the principal and a teacher of a boarding school in Nabarangpur District of the state for raping teenaged girl students.
A male cook, who reportedly helped them in the act has also been arrested.
The headmaster and a male teacher had raped school children repeatedly for months at the Boda-Amada Sevashrama School in Koshamguda block, about 550 kilometres from Bhubaneshwar.
The school educates children from backward communities, and comes under the jurisdiction of the Orissa Government’s Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Welfare Department.
The incident came to light when a female teacher complained to a local government official about two victims showing symptoms of early pregnancy.
On Wednesday, parents of several students staged a protest at the school for the headmaster behaviour.
State Education Minister Pratap Jena has ordered the Nabarangpur District collector to conduct an inquiry into the incident and submit a report to him. (ANI)
