PULWAMA - An Indian Army captain died and a militant killed in an encounter between security forces and militants at Dadsara village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
Two other army personnel and a policeman were injured in the encounter that started on Wednesday (March 03) morning. The encounter was suspended last night due to poor light and an inclement weather and was resumed on Thursday morning.
The incident took place after joint forces of the 42 Rashtriya Rifles and the police acted on a tip-off and surrounded a house where militants were hiding.
The village, which is some 40 kilometres outside the Srinagar, has now been cordoned off with reinforcements guarding the nearby forest as well.
According to some reports, the encounter has ended and the search operations have begun in the area.
“This encounter is going on since 8 o’clock yesterday morning. We are facing lots of problems because continuous firing is taking place. We haven’t stepped out of the house since yesterday. We can only hear bullet sounds and it was going on all night. It has created a lot of trouble for us,” said Faizal Ahmad, a local in the area. (ANI)
