LAHORE - Days after Minister of State for Ports and Shipping Nabil Gabol claimed that 80 per cent of National Assembly (NA) members have more than one wife, NA speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza has apparently also supported ‘polygamy’, saying Islam is ‘very much’ clear about the issue.’

Interacting with media persons at the Lahore Airport, Mirza said there is no two opinions on the issue.

“There is no need for any comment from my side on the issue because our religion is very much clear on the subject” The Nation quoted Mirza, as saying.

It is pertinent to mention here that last month PML-Q legislator Samina Khawar Hayat had pleaded in the Punjab Assembly that men should be allowed to have four wives as allowed in Islam.

Hayat had also said she would have no objection if her husband contracted a second marriage without her consent. (ANI)
