NEW DELHI - Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Friday felicitated over 100 small and marginal farmers from across the country for their innovative skills in the national capital.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawar said that the farmers have not only helped their families by increasing their incomes, but have also been more than inspirational for others by sheer dint of innovation and hard work.
Commending the farmers, Pawar said that many of them have not kept their new found knowledge to themselves but felt it necessary and worthwhile to share with fellow farmers.
He further stressed on bringing in better technology to farmers, improving efficiency of investments, increasing support to agricultural institutions, conserving rain water and looking at rain-fed farming areas with renewed interest for achieving better yields and incomes.
The Minister also released a Coffee Table Book ‘Harvest of Hope’, which contains 101 success stories of farmers.
Referring to the success stories included in the book, Pawar said that the basic thread underlying all the stories is the dedication, the zeal and the hope to harness resources, skills and enterprises. (ANI)
