NEW DELHI - Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will table the Economic Survey in Parliament today.
The survey is expected to project a growth at 7.5 per cent this year and could suggest measures to boost growth to nine per cent.
The survey will also highlight the impact of the stimulus on the economy.
Besides the survey, Mukherjee will also present the report of the 13th Finance Commission on the sharing of taxes between the Center and the States for the five-year period beginning April 2010, along with an Action Taken Report.
The report assumes importance in the backdrop of the government’s decision to implement a General Sales Tax and the Direct Taxes Code. As per the current indications, most of the recommendations are likely to be implemented.
Earlier, Mukherjee had said the Finance Commission’s recommendations would be reflected in the Budget to be unveiled in the Lok Sabha on February 26.
The recommendations would cover the five-year period commencing from April 1, 2010. (ANI)
