Railway Cultural and Heritage Promotion Board to be set up

NEW DELHI - Minister for Railways Ms. Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced the proposal of setting up a Railway Cultural and Heritage Promotion Board which will be responsible for coordinating and supervising all culture and heritage related activities on the railways.
Presenting the Railway Budget for 2010-11 in Parliament, Ms. Banerjee also announced that a Rabindra Museum at Howrah and Gitanjali Museum at Bolpur, the place where Visva-Bharati international university is located, would be set up to mark the 150th Birth Anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore.
Ms. Banerjee said that she also proposes to re-model Bholpur station inspired by the architecture of Shantiniketan.
To provide state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities for the promotion of culture, the Ministry of Railways also proposes to set up Shambhu Mitra Cultural Complex with performing arts and a usic academy at Howrah, the Railways Minister added. (ANI)
