JAMMU - Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said Wednesday that he wanted the state to turn prosperous, notwithstanding the raging separatist campaign.

While the opposition protested inside and outside the state assembly against alleged rights abuses, Abdullah spoke about his plans to develop the state.

Abdullah, 39, told a gathering after inaugurating a four-lane project here that his government was committed to develop Jammu and Kashmir despite difficulties and obstacles.

“We are determined to put our best foot forward and make our state the most progressive and prosperous one,” he said.
