NEW DELHI - Union Home Ministry is likely to ask the National Investigating Agency (NIA) to take up the Pune blast investigation, though the final decision on this matter would be taken only after consulting the Maharashtra Government, said sources.

The Centre has also expressed concern that the Maharashtra’s Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) was unable to make any headway in the probe.

As soon as the Pune blast occurred, the Home Ministry had sent a NIA team to the spot to get hands on experience.

The ministry has said there would not be any hassles in handing over the probe to NIA.

Ministry sources also said that in October 2009, Pune Police had sent a written advisory to the German Bakery owners and other business establishments in the city to beef up security by nstalling Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras and keep a check on suspicious objects. (ANI)
