Jammu observes shutdown to protest Sikh beheading

JAMMU - Jammu is observing a shutdown Tuesday to protest the beheading of Sikhs in Peshawar, Pakistan.

Shops and business establishments remained closed. Traffic was off the roads, while several Sikhs held demonstrations raising slogans against Pakistan and the Taliban.

The call for the shutdown was given by the Jammu and Kashmir Sikh United Front.

The police said the situation was peaceful throughout the city. No violent incident was reported.
