MUMBAI - A road in the Kalachowki area of Greater Mumbai caved in on Monday, disturbing the morning traffic and causing chaos for the local residents.
The incident took place at around 06:30 in the morning, seconds after a school bus loaded with children passed by.
The cave-in left a crater in the road, which was several feet in length.
Shradha Jadav, Mayor of Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the incident took place due to the negligence of the Municipal authorities, as there was a hollow space between the foundation and the road surface.
“By the grace of God, there were no accidents; otherwise the road is always crowded with office and school-going people. So, many people live in this area. The authorities should find out the cause and take proper action,” said Jadav.
The Mumbai Police has cordoned off the damaged part of the road to prevent any accidents.
Reportedly, there are no causalities. (ANI)
