Iran says forces kill armed 4 Kurdish separatists
TEHRAN, Iran — Iranian state television reports that intelligence agents have killed four members of an armed Kurdish separatist group.
The report cited a statement by the country’s intelligence department saying its agents ambushed and killed the four near the Kurdish town of Sardasht, about 310 miles (525 Kilometers) west of the capital Tehran and near the Iraqi border.
The report accused the four of killing three policemen in a clash on Dec. 26. It said the forces also confiscated four guns and two grenades during the clash.
In November, Iran executed a Kurdish activist who admitted membership in the same armed separatist group, which has waged a low level insurgency in Kurdish regions along Iran’s border with Iraq for decades.
