GANDHINAGAR - In a bid to cleanse its force, the Ahmedabad police is initiating steps to identify rogue elements in the department as also their relatives involved in criminal activities.
“We are conducting this internal exercise to identify rogue elements within the force and to also check on their relatives who have a criminal record,” said Satish Sharma, joint commissioner of police, Ahmedabad.
The move comes after six people, including a serving police constable, were arrested in a Rs.64 lakh gold loot case.
In another instance, two of the three youth sentenced to life imprisonment in the Surat gangrape case were sons of a police inspector and a head constable, respectively.
