People in northeast pray for peace on Shivratri

GUWAHATI / AGARTALA - The festival of Maha Shivaratri was recently celebrated in northeast along with the rest of the country and people prayed for peace in the region.
In Tripura devotees thronged Shiva temples from early morning to perform special pujas with milk, ghee, honey and incense sticks.
Religious programmes, bhajan recitals and other cultural programmes marked the celebration. I pray to God to keep everyone safe and happy. And for all the soldiers who are protecting us, I pray for their safety. These are my prayers for Shivarati,” said Atmaram Yadav, a devotee
In Assam, devotees from across the state and other parts of India visited the 277 years old historic Shiva Doul in Sivasagar, which is the oldest and biggest Shiva temple in the state.
“We are praying to Shiva that this year, let there be peace in Assam and that all the problems consuming the state be solved. We want to live in peace and harmony,” said Dhiren Gogoi, a devotee.
Devotees prayed for the well being of their near and dear ones as well as for peace and harmony in the region. (ANI)
