Security forces and militants clash in Pulwama in Jammu-Kashmir

PULWAMA - Security forces are engaged in an encounter with militants in a village house in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district where some militants are hiding.
Acting on a specific information, the security forces surrounded a house in Shangarpora village here.
A gun battle broke out here in the morning when the militants opened fire at the security forces following which the forces cordoned off the village.
“An encounter is going on between security forces and the militants at some distance. It had started … and is still continuing. The security forces have cordoned off the village. The militants are firing on the security forces at intervals and the forces are also firing back. It is still not known whether there are any civilians there or not,” said Mukhtar Ahmad, a local villager.
The latest encounter comes close on the heels of the gun battle in which security personnel had killed two persons of Pakistan based militant outfit, Jaish-e-Mohammad in Baramulla region of he state. (ANI)
