AHMEDABAD - Security has been beefed up in Gujarat in the wake of the deadly bomb blast in Pune.
S S Khandwawala, Director General of Police of Gujarat, said that special focus has been on Surat city.
“We conducted security checking in Surat for quite some time now. We have checked many people and have also sent some of our teams to Pune for the same. Gujarat Police have recently detected many cases while conducting security checks,” he added.
“I would like to say after seeing the Pune incident that none should go near or touch any suspicious object lying in public place. Instead they should wait for the police and bomb disposal team for investigation. If things will be conducted in a systematic manner, then we would surely be able to avert such mishaps,” he said.
Pune blast, which killed ten people and wounded at least 57, is seen as the first major attack on India since the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. (ANI)
