DARJEELING - The 24-hour shutdown called by the student wing of Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha on Thursday disrupted normal life across the region.
The Gorkha Jana Mukti Morcha called the shutdown in order to protest against the Darjeeling district administration for not permitting to conduct students’ conference in the plains of Siliguri.
The district administration fears that there would be a breach of law and order.
The student wing has also called for a shutdown on Friday to protest against the killing of 24 Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR) security personnel, who were attacked by the Maoists at their amp in West Midnapore district on February 15. (ANI)
