JAIPUR - Even as the young at heart celebrated the St. Valentine’s Day by exchanging greetings cards, chocolates or other gift items in different parts of the world, a group of lovers enjoyed the day by taking a helicopter ride here in the royal city of palaces in Rajasthan.
As part of an innovative concept, about 10 courting couples in Jaipur were offered an opportunity to ride helicopter for 10 minutes to make this Valentine’s Day (February 14) an unforgettable memory for them.
The incident was first of its kind here when a special flight for the young love couples was organised on the outskirts of the Pink City, courtesy an innovative initiative of “Palace on Wings”, an aviation company.
Resourceful courting couples took to the air aboard a helicopter for joyride. For most of them it was a maiden experience in a helicopter and felt like a dream coming true as they got a chance to fly by helicopter.
The couples, on their part, the couples were a delighted lot to have celebrated the day in this unique fashion.
Each of the 10 couples were allocated 10 minutes of joyride in helicopter, as they enjoyed the beauty of topology of the Pink City, as Jaipur is popularly described, from varied angles, high up in the air.
“I thought of giving her a unique surprise and a special item to reflect my love for her. It was then that I thought of this joyride and really I was very happy once we boarded the chopper and sat in it. Normally what happens is we usually travel in planes but not everybody can travel in helicopter. So I thought we will sit in helicopter and celebrate our first Valentine’s Day,” said Vikram Singh, a traveller of chopper joyrides on the Valentine’s Day, Jaipur.
Meanwhile, the organiser of the novel flight mentioned that a helicopter ride is out of a commoner’s reach since it is mostly the VIPs who either travel or can afford such rides.
“There was a demand that common man should also be able to travel in helicopter. So we chose the occasion of Valentine’s Day and gave chance to young couples to travel in helicopter on a sharing basis, because the cost of per hour ride in a helicopter is much more that that of planes. Thus, we counted the number of people for an hour and divided the total cost amongst them,” said Captain Vibhooti Singh Devra, Chief Executive Officer, Palace on Wings, the aviation company.
The organisers also noted that these innovative joyrides have ample scope to promote tourism in and around Jaipur.
This new venture to offer helicopter ride on sharing basis in Jaipur looks like to have opened many opportunities for other important festive occasions in the months to come. By Lokender Singh (ANI)
