SRINAGAR - The Border Security Force (BSF) has admitted that 16-year old Zahid Farooq Sheikh was killed, when a BSF personnel opened fire on a group of people in Nishat area of Srinagar.

Special Director General (DG) of the BSF PPS Sandhu said, “Prima facie evidence has proved the involvement of Lakhwinder Kumar, a jawan of 68 battalion of BSF, in the shootout that resulted in the death of Zahid Farooq Sheikh of Nishat.”

We have decided to hand over the Jawan to Jammu and Kashmir police for further investigations,” he added.

The city was on the boil since the death of Sheikh on Friday evening and there were protests all around after eyewitnesses claimed that he was shot dead by a BSF trooper.
