ST PETERSBURG - Some 150 builders, ice sculptors and architects are carving Russia’s first ice hotel which will open on Valentine’s Day, its promoters said Monday.
The resort, which is being sculpted in the Arkhangelsk Region in the country’s north, will also have an exhibition hall, a 70-seat movie house, a gym, an ice bar and a wedding hall where couples will take their marriage vows on Valentine’s Day.
The ice hotel will have nine rooms with indoor temperatures at around zero degrees Celsius.
Artists will decorate the interior with snow sculptures and sleeping bags will be offered to those guests who would like to stay in the night from Feb 14 onwards, the promoters said.
The hotel is expected to be open until March 30 and the promoters are planning to build another ice lodge in the region next year.
