GUWAHATI - Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has expressed concern over reports of China’s plans to build a dam on the river Brahmaputra.

Addressing RSS volunteers here on Sunday, Bhagwat said: “We should be cautious that China should not take away water from our Brahmaputra river by applying tactics. This is not a question of peace and non-violence, but if peace and non-violence is to be conserved then India’s natural resources should be protected.”

A section of Indian media had reported last year that China is constructing a dam on Brahmaputra, which could affect the ecology of India.

India’s National Remote Sensing Agency had said that the construction work was on at the Zangmu site on the Chinese side of the Brahmaputra River.

However, the Indian Foreign Ministry has refuted such reports. (ANI)
