SRINAGAR - The local residents and the tourists in Srinagar were delighted to witness a fresh spell of snowfall that brought down the temperature to two-degrees Celsius.

The snowfall brought cheers on the faces of the locals as a fresh snow means better crops and ample supply of water this spring.

The entire region was covered under a thick blanket of snow as the locals carried on with their work; the tourists chose to enjoy the winter chill by playing games in the snow.

The delighted residents even distributed sweets.

Abdul Rasheed, a local resident said, “I used to feel that we have forgotten about snowfall and presumed we were living in a desert. I am feeling good to see snowfall after a long time.”

The others were optimistic that apart from boosting tourism, the snowfall would help to reduce the region’s water shortage.

Another resident Fida Hussain said, “For the last two months we were waiting for snowfall. I am feeling very happy to see snow falling on me. We are incomplete without snow.”

“Our crops, water availability, all depend on the snowfall,” added Hussain. (ANI)
