MELBOURNE - Spanish chef Ferran Adria has decided to close the doors of his acclaimed restaurant elBulli for two years, because he wants to focus on new ideas for his famous molecular cuisine.
The restaurant, in Gerona province north of Barcelona, has three Michelin stars.
It was also voted the world’s best last year by the British magazine Restaurant-fourth time in a row.
While Adria has said that he will close the restaurant in 2012 and 2013, but he is not retiring.
Instead, he said that he is taking time to think and experiment, reports ABC News.
Adria made the announcement Tuesday at a gastronomic fair called Madrid Fusion.
The Spaniard is known for trailblazing techniques in which ingredients are “deconstructed” and reassembled in unexpected ways, creating dishes like ravioli made of squid or freeze-dried foie gras. (ANI)
