MELBOURNE - Fiona Swan, a mother of three, is hunting for new grandparents for her kids.

Swan from Caroline Springs has laid out some prerequisites for all applicants - all candidates should have a zeal for life, must be open and be keen to share their wisdom, love, and time, although no previous grandparenting experience is necessary.

Swan, mum to Nathan, three-and-a-half, Sarah, 18 months and James, two months, said her children did not have grandparents in Victoria.

She revealed that her mother lived interstate and her dad was dead.

According to Swan, she wants her kids to grow up with the guidance of grandparents and this was not an idea to recruit cheap babysitters.

“I reckon other mothers have probably thought about this idea, but they probably think they are going to be seen as needy,” the Melton Leader quoted her, as saying.

She continued: “It’s not that at all, I just think it would be great to have some outside adult influences on my children.

“I’ve only been in Caroline Springs for 18 months and even though I’ve joined the mothers network, with three young children, it’s hard to get out of the house a lot of the time.”

Swan hopes her appeal would attract trustworthy older people who had some spare time.

She added: “My kids don’t really have a family in their lives and I just think it would be a great thing for elderly people who may not have grandchildren in their lives.” (ANI)
