Five arrested for trading in police ammunition in Gorakhpur

GORAKHPUR - Five persons, including a policeman in-charge of an armoury, have been arrested for allegedly trading police ammunition in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district.
Acting on a tip off, police arrested Rajesh Singh, in-charge of the armoury in the police lines, from a local bus station while he was allegedly handing over a consignment to four people.
“We arrested five persons and recovered four pistols, two pistols of 9 mm, two of .32 bore and one .38 bore revolver, 100 cartridges of 0.9 mm pistol, 49 cartridges of A.K. 47 Rifle, one cartridge of SLR (Self Loading Rifle), 498 abandoned cartridges of 0.9 mm and one magazine of .303 Rifle,” said Brij Lal, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Lucknow.
