MUMBAI - Transgender in Mumbai participated in an audition for a beauty contest titled ‘Super Queen’.
Organised by the efforts of Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, a known transgender activist, the auditions will take place in 10 cities to dispel social taboos associated with being a transgender in India.
Ten transgenders participating in the Mumbai leg scorched the ramp, trying their best to impress judges.
Tripathi said the contest would provide a platform to transgenders to be a part of mainstream.
“Indian Super Queen is a platform given to the transgender community and the Hijra (eunuch) community to…a platform of dignity, self respect and confidence of that they can be as different as any other media any other agency or any other people you know like as normal as any man or woman,” said Tripathi.
The finals will take place in New Delhi on February 21. (ANI)
