AMRITSAR - The Canadian Government is likely to prepare a list of genuine education and travel consultants to save innocent Punjabis from falling into hands of unscrupulous travel agents.
This was disclosed by Bob Dechert, the Canadian MP from Mississauga-Erindale constituency of Tronto, who visited Amritsar on Thursday and paid his obeisance at the Golden Temple.
“We are concerned over piling up of complaints against unscrupulous travel agents active in Punjab. I will take up the matter with Prime Minister Stephen Harper and will impress upon my government to prepare a list of genuine travel and educational advisors,” Dechert said.
“Punjabis have made tremendous contribution towards progress of Canada so, we welcome them. We need hard working people in Canada,” he added.
Dechert was accompanied by Toronto-based Conservative Party leader Harry Dhaliwal and NRI Gurdev Mundi, who were honoured by the SGPC with “Siropas”.
Talking about the Golden Temple, Dechert said it was his first visit to the shrine and he was spiritually enlightened to visit the place of highest spiritual order.
“I have immense peace of mind. People are serving selflessly here and it was a matter of enlightenment to see such a spirit at a place where lakhs of people bow their heads daily,” he added. By Ravinder Singh Robin (ANI)
