VISAKHAPATNAM - Mesmerized by the mystique of Indian culture and customs, a Spanish couple tied nuptial knot here on Monday according to Hindu rites.
Bride Eva, 26, and Joan, 30, took seven rounds around the holy fire and exchanged garlands, amid chanting of Vedic hymns.
The couple belong to Barcelona and have been visiting India for last five years.
Parents of bride and groom were among the 90 foreign guests participating in the ceremony.
Eva and Joan are both psychologists and decided to marry in the traditional Hindu way, as they believe that the bonds of marriage in India are stronger.
“We think that there is real purpose and tradition in the ritual, and the tradition. For many years we have known about Indian tradition and we have a lot of faith in it and we try to learn from it.” said Joan, the groom.
The couple dressed in traditional Indian outfits took vows to be with each other through the thick and thin of life.
Indian weddings are lavish and full of rituals. Indians believe marriage is a union of two souls where the bride and the groom not only accept each other but also bond with their families. (ANI)
