AMRITSAR - A dip in mercury levels and dense fog engulfed Amritsar on Tuesday reducing visibility and disrupting normal life.
Amritsar reported a minimum temperature of 0.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal.
“The weather is extremely harsh for the last few days, the cold weather conditions are causing a lot of problems for us. We can’t get out of our houses, as the visibility on the roads is less,” said Chanchal Singh, a local.
Students living in the villages complained that it is taking them more time to reach schools due to a sharp dip in mercury.
“The weather is very cold in Amritsar, we face a lot of problems while going to our school, which is situated in the city; it takes more time to reach our school,” said Rupinder Kaur.
Harsh weather claimed hundreds of lives in north India with Uttar Pradesh bearing the maximum brunt. (ANI)
