LAHORE - JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman has said that while he was ready to mediate between the Pakistan Government and the Taliban before the military offensive, he is not wiling to play that role now as Islamabad has enforced a war on itself.

The News quoted Rehman as saying that Pakistan should quit the war on terror to protect national security.

Praising the PML-N’s role as the opposition party, Rehman said that while the party has been criticizing the government, it is refraining from confrontation in interest of democracy.

“It is a good omen that despite having differences, politicians are united for the survival of democratic set-up,” he said.

Rehman was of the view that the decision to join the world alliance in terror war was made by Pervez Musharraf alone and no state institution endorsed it. (ANI)
