Two killed as militants attacked Sopore police station in Jammu and Kashmir

SRINAGAR - At least two persons including a policeman were killed when militants open fire twice within an hour at Sopore police station in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday morning.
According to the initial reports four police personnel and a civilian were also injured in the firing.
According to Jammu and Kashmir police, when the militants fired at the police station at around 11.25 a.m. the policemen guarding the complex retaliated the fire. The fire exchange continued for over 30 minutes.
Earlier, militants hurled a grenade towards the police station around 10.25 a.m.
The grenade hit the roof of the police station and then rolled down to get exploded near the main entrance gate. As soon as the senior police officers reached the explosion site, militants who were hiding in the vicinity, started firing at the police personnel.
All injured have been shifted to Srinagar Hospital for further treatment.
One of the injured, however is reported to be in critical condition.
The security personnel were searching extensively for the hiding militants till after noon. (ANI)
