GEORGE TOWN - Malay Indians have gathered in groups to give bundled offerings at various Hindu temples on their pilgrimage to the Sri Ayappan Temple in Jalan Kebun Bunga here.
According to The Star, the devotees carried iru mudi - offerings consisting of two halves of a coconut, betel nut and leaves, sweets and fruits - bundled in a thick cloth for the deity.
Most of them were in black, which is said to be the Lord Swamy Ayappa’s preferred colour.
A group of Lord Swamy Ayappa devotees, bearing bundled offerings on their head, left the Sri Meenakshi Temple in Jalan Kebun Bunga where they paused to pay homage on their pilgrimage to the Sri Ayappan Temple in Penang Thursday.
Most of the devotes were from all over the state, but there were also some who came from as far as Alor Setar.
The pilgrimage is performed on the 48th day of fasting. (ANI)
